Oil Gas Division

Oil Standard Hebitat

In a Standard Habitat air is pumped into the semi-sealed enclosure, forcing any local atmospheric contaminants outside and preventing gases circulating from entering, making the inside intrinsically safe. Within just a few minutes the entire atmosphere within the habitat is completely refreshed with air taken from a safe area outside of the specified zone.

The company can install Habitats at very short notice and because of the modular design; they can be delivered almost anywhere. Size is tailored to customer and site requirements and can be varied from 8m3 to 1500m3. The system can be used on pipes and pipestocks, beams and girders, on floors, against walls and ceilings. It can also be used where a tailored solution is required, such as in tanks and distillation towers, BOPs and in production facilities.

Under normal operation, the internal atmosphere is refreshed a minimum of 15 times per hour; although this can be increased to suit operator’s comfort or as conditions (e.g. welding) dictate. Extraction units are also available for hire.

Operators can freely move in and out of the work area, using the airlock section but as a measure to prevent accidental depressurization of the protected area, all our habitats are fitted with a manometer in the outer airlock door. This allows technicians moving between areas to confirm that the airlock has achieved full pressurization before entry.

Standard Habitats are available for rental – please contact us with your requirements.

For complex operations in hazardous areas or where gas detection is required, Advanced Habitat is recommended.
